Overview and background
As the fulfillment center for Prevent Child Abuse America, the Channing Bete Company is committed to supporting the mission to prevent the abuse and neglect of our nation's children. Prevent Child Abuse America publications are an effective way to educate many different audiences on a wide variety of topics. The Channing Bete Company Community Outreach Grant was established to recognize outstanding creativity in using Prevent Child Abuse America publications. The grants department invites educators to apply for a grant in order to implement these publications in either existing or new outreach programs.
Applicants are asked to submit a proposal outlining a creative project that includes the use of Prevent Child Abuse America publications in new educational outreach programs. Proposals should incorporate a summary of the project and a detailed project description that includes goals/objectives, an evaluation plan, and an itemized list of materials that would be used.
Successful applicants will each be awarded up to $500 in grant money to be applied toward the purchase of Prevent Child Abuse America publications.
Who should apply
Organizations that will actively integrate Prevent Child Abuse America publications into new educational outreach efforts should apply. Special consideration will be given to use of materials to promote positive parenting and a community-wide approach to child abuse prevention in brand-new outreach efforts/programs.
Only one application per person may be submitted.

Requirements of award recipients
Selection criteria for the grants will include the following:
- description of project and statement of need that outlines goals/objectives, an evaluation plan, and an itemized budget
When evaluating your application, the judges will look favorably on the project's creativity and potential to serve as a model of best practices (a project that not only makes a difference with its target audience, but also lends itself to replication). Special consideration will be given to the use of these materials in brand-new outreach efforts/programs.

Applications will be accepted until the deadline. Notifications will be sent to applicants on or before July 21, 2008. Channing Bete Company will make every effort to contact all applicants by e-mail with award decisions, provided a valid e-mail address is included in the application.
A grant award must be applied to cover expenses of the project described in the application.
Grant winners must sign any required legal documents provided, including a publicity release. Winners agree to be bound by the decisions of Channing Bete Company, which are final with respect to all matters related to this grant program.
